Sometimes, as I’m going about my day, I suddenly remember that I’m trans.

Perhaps “remember” is the wrong word. “Remember” implies that I’m not constantly aware of the fact that I’m trans. I am. I am aware, in some sense, of my being trans almost every minute of every day.

Still, it’s rare that this awareness is conscious. More often, it’s something that’s floating at the back of my mind — a general sense of being “different;” a vague feeling of isolation; a hint of residual magic…
