I made a mistake when I first came out as trans and started my transition about two and a half years ago. And, because of my mistake, some of my friends and family were left hurt, confused, and lacking closure.
The mistake was this: I tried to convince them that I was the same person they had always known.
In my defense, I believed it at the time. After all, I liked all the same things I had always liked, and disliked all the same things I had always disliked. My sense of humor hadn’t changed. The same goes for my political alignment, hobbies, social preferences, and…
